Homemade Caramel Sauce
Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
6 Tbsp unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1/2 cup heavy cream
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
Melt the Sugar: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar. Stir occasionally until the sugar is completely melted and turns a deep amber color. Be careful not to burn it.
Add Butter: Add the butter, stirring constantly until it’s fully melted. Be cautious as the mixture will bubble up.
Add Cream: Slowly pour in the heavy cream while continuing to stir. The mixture will bubble vigorously again, so pour slowly and keep stirring until smooth.
Simmer: Allow the caramel to simmer for about 1 minute to thicken. Remove from heat and stir in a pinch of salt.
Cool: Let the caramel sauce cool slightly before using. It will thicken as it cools.
