Cinnamon Cream Sauce
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups sugar (or ¾ cup white sugar + ¾ cup brown sugar)
⅔ cup maple syrup (or honey)
⅓ cup water
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
⅔ cup evaporated milk (or use heavy cream for a richer sauce)
2 Tbsp browned unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Pinch of salt
Pinch of nutmeg or cardamom (optional)
Instructions:
Combine the sugar, maple syrup (or honey), water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat.
Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and cook for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in the evaporated milk (or cream), browned butter, and vanilla extract (if using).
Serve warm over the Swedish Apple Pie, pancakes, or any dessert that could use a sweet, spiced sauce.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve each slice of the warm Swedish Apple Pie drizzled generously with the Cinnamon Cream Sauce. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
